KID Mohair

Angora goats produce a beautiful, luxurious, incredibly durable, fibre called mohair, which drapes well and resists wrinkling or shrinking. Stronger and warmer than wool it keeps heat in during cold weather and acts as a barrier against hot summer temperatures. Kid Mohair isn't itchy because it does not have scales like wool. It accepts dye with an exuberance that is unparalleled. Natural coloured Mohair has variations of shades that are exceptionally beautiful.

Mohair has several unique properties :

• Insulating – Mohair's hollow fibres do not conduct heat and provides good insulation.
• Durability – Mohair can be twisted and bent without damage to the fibre.
• Comfort – Mohair does not irritate the skin, even for people sensitive to wool.
• Strength – Mohair is stronger than steel of the same diameter.
• Shrink Resistance – Mohair fabrics shrink much less than wool.
• Elasticity – Mohair is very elastic; it can be stretched up to 30%, and will spring back to shape
• Moisture Transfer – Mohair easily absorbs and releases moisture, moving perspiration away from the skin.
• Luster - One of mohair's most important qualities is its ability to take dye and to display brilliant colours that resist fading
• Lightweight – Mohair's smooth fibres can be made into fabrics that have a cooling effect - ideal for summer garments.
• Non-flammability – Kid Mohair will not burn unless it is exposed to a direct flame.
• Easy to wash – Mohair is easy to wash because it doesn't felt or shrink.

The baby mohair goat (or kid) has much finer hair than the adult. The finer the hair, the softer the handle. Because there are more adults than kids, there is more adult hair than kid hair. The kid mohair is in great demand and commands high prices - nearly 20 times more per Kilo than adult mohair.
